Amanda Rice-Johnston is an accomplished double bassist with extensive experience in both performance and education. Currently serving as an Adjunct Professor of Double Bass at Chatham University since January 2019, Amanda also plays as a Substitute Double Bass Player with the Grand Rapids Symphony and holds the position of Principal Bass with the Westmoreland Symphony. Additionally, Amanda has a longstanding freelance career as a double bassist beginning in September 2000, alongside roles as a substitute musician with various orchestras and ensembles, including the Pittsburgh Opera, West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and Akron Symphony Orchestra. Amanda holds degrees in Double Bass Performance from Michigan State University, Temple University, and Carnegie Mellon University.
