Dana O'Connor is currently serving as a Machine Learning Research Scientist at the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center since October 2023. Previously, Dana was a PhD Candidate at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2019 to October 2023, focusing on computational materials with an emphasis on organic molecular crystal structure prediction. Notable projects include utilizing random generation and genetic algorithms to predict crystal structures of energetic materials, as well as benchmarking dispersion-inclusive density functional theory methods for these materials. Dana earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in September 2023 and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Allegheny College in May 2019.
