Michael Van Straten has over 10 years of work experience in a variety of roles. In 2009, they began their career as a Men's Basketball Student Manager at Saint Mary's College of California. During this time, they were able to attend the conference championship in Las Vegas, Rounds 1 and 2 of the NCAA Tournament in Providence, and the Sweet 16 in Houston. In 2010, they worked as a Youth Basketball Camp Coach at Duke University and as an Accounts Payable Director's Assistant at Northeastern University. In 2012, they worked as an English Language Teacher at Universiteit Utrecht, teaching two English language courses via Skype.
In 2013, Michael Van Straten worked at three different companies. Michael was a Program Strategist at Youth Marketing Connection, where they were responsible for overseeing program-related events and social media activities at over 20 universities on a daily basis. Michael was also a Marketing Director at Pointfall, where they focused on consumer market attraction. Lastly, they were a Campus Ambassador at Urban Compass.
In 2015, Michael Van Straten began working at Placester, where they have held four different roles: Sr. Manager of Customer Support and Professional Services, Team Lead - Customer Success, Sr. Customer Success Manager, and Manager of Customer Success.
Michael Van Straten attended Saint Mary's College of California from 2009 to 2010, studying Kinesiology. Michael then enrolled at University of Wisconsin-Madison, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication Arts- Radio, TV, Film in 2013. During their time at University of Wisconsin-Madison, they also studied at Utrecht University in 2012. In February 2014, they obtained a TEFL & TESOL Certification from International TEFL Academy.
