Jovan Shepherd

Jovan Shepherd is an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist with a robust background in molecular diagnostics and high-throughput testing. Currently employed at Sequenom since February 2021, Jovan specializes in non-invasive prenatal testing and SARS-CoV-2 detection, utilizing advanced sequencing technologies and automated systems. Additionally, Jovan has held per diem roles at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest and UC San Diego Health, performing a wide range of assays for infectious diseases. Prior experience includes roles as a Public Health Microbiologist with the County of San Diego, focusing on viral detection and laboratory management, along with foundational research roles at The Scripps Research Institute and Seminis. Jovan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from UC San Diego.
