Alisha Lineswala has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Alisha began their career as a Legal Intern at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where they provided legal advice on public health issues. Alisha then served as a Legal Extern at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, assisting with the review and recommendation of claims appeals.
Moving into the nonprofit sector, Alisha worked at the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care as a Public Policy & Program Specialist and Consultant. In these roles, they developed expertise in long-term care regulations and supported initiatives to protect consumers' rights.
Alisha also has experience in the sorority sector, holding leadership positions at Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Sorority Inc. Alisha served as the Region III Vice President and Director of New Membership, overseeing chapter programming and educational processes.
In addition, Alisha co-owned and co-operated a community-oriented yoga studio called Yoga NoMa. Alisha served as a Yoga Instructor, teaching various classes and emphasizing breath-linking movement and self-discovery.
Most recently, Alisha has been working at Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Alisha started as a Policy Analyst, supporting the implementation of PPFA's public policy agenda and analyzing the impact of state and federal policies on patients and health centers. Alisha was promoted to Senior Policy Analyst, where they served as a thought partner and expanded collaboration with state policy and organizing teams.
Throughout their career, Alisha has demonstrated strong analytical skills, expertise in policy development, and a passion for advocating for quality care and reproductive health.
Alisha Lineswala obtained a BA degree in English Writing, Asian Studies, and Chinese from the University of Pittsburgh, which they completed in 2012. Alisha then pursued a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree with a focus on Health Law at Saint Louis University, graduating in 2015. In addition to their formal education, Alisha also obtained various certifications, including Living Yoga Advanced Studies Teacher Training (300-HR) from Alicia Moyer at Past Tense Yoga Studio in September 2020, Modern Day Goddess Mentorship for Yoga Teachers and Healers (9-HR) from April Puciata at Beyond OM in June 2020, Chair Yoga Teacher Training (4-HR) from Dave Dickinson at Modern Yoga in June 2019, Pelvic Floor Yoga Teacher Training (20-HR) from Leslie Howard at Willow Street Yoga Center in March 2019, Rest for All: Restorative Yoga Teacher Training (12-HR) from Tara Lemerise at Willow Street Yoga Center in March 2019, Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training (85-HR) from Lindsey Uhrig at Past Tense Yoga Studio in March 2018, Shakti Inspired Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training (15-HR) from April Puciata at Beyond OM in July 2017, Whole Yogi Yoga Teacher Training (200-HR) from Julia Romano and Chris Parkison at VIDA Fitness in May 2017. Prior to all these certifications, Alisha became an attorney through the Court of Appeals of Maryland in June 2016.
