Miriam Sheinbein, MD, IBCLC has a diverse work experience in the field of healthcare. Miriam'smost recent position is as a Medical Director at Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM), starting in December 2021. Prior to that, they served as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCSF/SFGH Department of Family and Community Medicine since July 2011. Additionally, they worked as a Family Physician at the San Francisco Department of Public Health starting in May 2022.

Dr. Sheinbein also has experience with Planned Parenthood Federation of America, where they served as a Physician Consultant Surveyor from May 2014 to August 2021. Miriam was also a part of the National Medical Committee starting in July 2021. Prior to this, they held the role of Associate Medical Director for Primary Care at Planned Parenthood Mar Monte from April 2012 to June 2021.

In terms of academic roles, Dr. Sheinbein was an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at Stanford University School of Medicine from January 2017 to January 2020. Miriam also held the position of Physician Specialist at the San Francisco Department of Public Health from January 2012 to June 2012.

Miriam Sheinbein, MD, IBCLC, completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures at Columbia University from 1998 to 2002. Miriam then pursued their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, graduating between 2004 and 2008. Following their medical degree, Dr. Sheinbein completed their residency in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, from 2008 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Dr. Sheinbein has obtained several certifications to further enhance their expertise. Miriam is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and holds the certification of International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE).
