Lead Games Engineer at Quell

Daniel Waine has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Daniel started their career in 2010 as a Sales Advisor at Maplin Electronics, where they provided customer service and helped customers with their electronic purchases. In 2013, they worked as a Game Scenario Designer at Hunted Cow Studios, where they contributed to the development of various iOS games. Daniel then joined Hunted Cow Studios as a Graduate Developer in 2014, where they worked on developing new features and ensuring integration of plugins and released games. In 2015, Daniel became a Games Developer at HexWar Games Ltd, focusing on developing strategy tabletop and board games for digital platforms using Unity in C#. From 2017 to 2018, they worked as a Software Developer at NCTech, specializing in virtualization technology. In 2018, they joined Den Automation as a Mobile Developer, where they contributed to the development and management of an IoT home automation system. At Immerse, they worked as a VR Authoring Developer from 2019 to 2021, where they worked on a VR authoring tool and contributed to the core SDK. Currently, Daniel is the Lead Games Engineer at Quell, working on combat, enemies, AI, and player scoring with a focus on fitness outcomes.

Daniel Waine's education history starts in 2010 when they attended Dundee and Angus College and obtained an HNC degree in Computer Games Development. Daniel then pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) in Computer Games Technology at the University of the West of Scotland from 2011 to 2014. After that, they enrolled at The University of Edinburgh in 2015 and completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science in 2016.

In addition to their formal education, Daniel has also obtained several certifications. In 2018, they completed courses such as "Divide and Conquer, Sorting and Searching, and Randomized Algorithms" and "Graph Search, Shortest Paths, and Data Structures" through Coursera. In 2019, they attended the "Greedy Algorithms, Minimum Spanning Trees, and Dynamic Programming" course on Coursera and the "Deep Learning Knowhow Workshop" at Doulos. Most recently, in 2020, they completed the "Shortest Paths Revisited, NP-Complete Problems and What To Do About Them" and "Algorithms Specialization" courses on Coursera. Additionally, they obtained certifications in "Build Location Based Augmented Reality apps with ARCore" and "Internet of Things Using Augmented Reality in Unity IoTAR" from Udemy in 2018.
