Howard Aikins

Howard Aikins has extensive work experience in various software engineering roles. Howard started their career as an Application Developer at Microsoft in 1999 and held several positions, including Senior Application Developer, Software Design Engineer, Development Lead, Senior Software Development Engineer, and Senior Development Lead. At Microsoft, they worked on various technologies such as .Net, C#, TSQL, HTML, JavaScript, TypeScript, jQuery, Knockout, and Elastic Search. Howard was involved in requirements gathering, design, implementation, and support of applications. Howard also had experience with agile methodologies including pair programming, SCRUM, and Kanban.

In 2014, Howard joined FTI Consulting as a Senior Software Development Engineer, where they designed, implemented, and supported features for an E-discovery application for the legal industry. Howard utilized technologies such as JavaScript, Ext.js, C#, .Net, and TSQL.

Since 2017, Howard has been working at Plex Systems, Inc. In their roles as Senior Software Architect, Principle Software Engineer, and Senior Software Engineer III, they have been involved in the design, implementation, and support of features for an MES in the cloud solution. Howard has utilized technologies such as JavaScript, C#, .Net, TSQL, Git, and Boomi. Agile methodologies, including SCRUM and pair programming, have been followed in their work at Plex Systems, Inc.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Howard worked as a Development Manager at ObjectWorks from 1994 to 1999.

Howard Aikins attended Smithers Senior Secondary School from 1978 to 1981, where they received their High School Diploma. Following this, from 1982 to 1984, they studied at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) and obtained an Associate's degree with Honors in Industrial Electronics. Later, Howard pursued higher education at the University of Calgary from 1989 to 1993, where they achieved a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Distinction in Computer Science.
