Roy Frances

Roy Frances is an experienced biomedical professional with a strong background in immunology and kinase activity research. Currently serving as an Associate Scientist II at Pliant Therapeutics since January 2022, Roy previously worked at Rigel Pharmaceuticals for nearly 18 years, progressing through roles from Research Associate to Scientist. Notable achievements include contributing to the development of twelve IND clinical stage research programs, including Tavalisse, the first FDA approved oral SYK kinase inhibitor for Immune Thrombocytopenia. Roy also has expertise in developing and optimizing biochemical assays and maintaining mammalian cell cultures for in vitro studies. Earlier in the career, Roy held positions at PPD and Mylan Bertek Pharmaceuticals, focusing on research and quality control. Roy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Molecular Cell Developmental Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
