Jason Benjoya

Mid-Level Software Engineer at Polco

Jason Benjoya has always been interested in technology. As a child, they loved taking things apart to see how they worked. This led him to pursue a career in software engineering. Jason started their career as a Jr. PC Tester with GENESCO INC, where they quickly saved the company 60% of project resources by constructing and imaging new point-of-sale hardware machines. Jason then deployed bash and python scripts to properly and continually test all 60 machines, reducing redundant troubleshooting hours to near zero.

In 2019, Jason decided to change gears and pursue a career in audio engineering. Jason joined Nashville Lighting and Production as an audio engineer. There, they coordinated and performed setup, testing, and proper utilization of audiovisual equipment in teams of 2 to 4 people to minimize overhead dollars by maximizing efficiency and distribution of tasks. During events, they executed all functions pertaining to operation and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure 100% client satisfaction.

In 2020, Jason decided to return to their roots in software engineering and joined Polco as a software engineer. Jason is currently focusing on developing new features for the Polco platform that will make it easier for users to find and engage with their local government representatives.

Jason Benjoya has a certification in software engineering from Springboard and a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Jason also has a certification from Coursera in Google IT Support Specialization.

Their manager is Alex Pedersen, CFO & CTO. Some of their coworkers include Alex Goedken - Software Engineer, Will Pleasant-Ryan - Director of Engineering, and Nathan Diedrick - Software Engineer.
