Hal Crawford

Hal Crawford has a diverse work experience in the media industry. Hal is currently working as the Head of Content at Polemos since 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Advisory Board Chair at Centre For Media Transition from 2021. In 2020, they founded Crawford Media Consulting. Hal Crawford also worked as the Chief News Officer at MediaWorks NZ from 2016 to 2020, where they managed a team of 250 staff and oversaw the news operations across various platforms. Hal co-founded Share Wars in 2011, which collected data on story sharing from news publishers and provided editorial tools. From 2006 to 2016, Hal held multiple roles at ninemsn, including Editor in Chief and Publisher, where they managed a team of 70 and was responsible for content strategy and product delivery. Hal also worked as a Non-Executive Director at Pedestrian Group from 2015 to 2016. Earlier in their career, they served as a Lecturer at La Trobe University, an Online Editor at Radio Netherlands, and a Journalist at West Australian Newspapers.

Hal Crawford attended The University of Western Australia from 1989 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Philosophy. Afterward, from 1993 to 1994, they pursued further studies at the same university, completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Science.
