Jamie Dettmer

Jamie Dettmer is an accomplished journalist and communications expert with extensive experience in global affairs and political commentary. Currently serving as the Opinion Editor at POLITICO Europe since April 2022, Dettmer previously held the position of Global Affairs Writer at Voice of America, covering the Middle East and Europe from May 2012 to April 2022. Other notable roles include Foreign Correspondent at Daily Beast/VOA and Comment Editor at The Hill. Dettmer has also managed communications for several organizations, including the UN PRI and Qatar Foundation International, as well as serving as Director of Communications at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. With a solid educational background from the University of Cambridge, Dettmer holds both a Master of Arts and a double Bachelor’s degree in History and English.
