Dorte Hygum has extensive work experience in journalism, writing, and communication. Dorte started their career in 1993 as a freelance journalist for various publications, including Politiken, Ud & Se, Femina, Børsens Nyhedsmagasin, and Bo Bedre. In 1998, they became a full-time journalist and reviewer for Politiken, where they covered music, documentaries, children's books, and various cultural topics. Dorte held this position until 2012 when they transitioned to becoming a freelance journalist with their own business, working for Politiken, Ugebladet Søndag, Det Danske Filminstitut, and more. Additionally, from 2012 onwards, they have been involved in communication, content marketing, PR, and moderation for various companies, including Virksomheder, Bogforum, Politiken Plus, Nordisk Film, and Quarterback Entertainment. During this time, they have worked as a moderator for book and film presentations and has created press materials for music and film launches.
Dorte Hygum attended the University of Copenhagen from 1983 to 1984, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in kultursociologi. Later, from 1986 to 1991, Dorte Hygum pursued further education at Danmarks Journalisthøjskole, however, no specific degree or field of study was mentioned for this period.
