Torben Holleufer has a diverse and extensive work experience in journalism, photography, music management, and music production. Torben started their career as a freelance journalist and reviewer in 1997 and has worked with various publications such as Jazz Special and Politiken. Torben has also worked as a freelance journalist for Danes Worldwide and Songlines. In 2000, they began covering music events for Politiken, including WOMEX, a world music expo. In 2002, Holleufer started working as a music producer and manager for Gnawa Music. In 2003, they co-founded Standard Records, a record label focused on sufi music from Morocco, where they served as a director and producer. From 2011 onwards, they continued their freelance journalism work and also took on the role of a music manager for the Hamadcha Sufi Tariqa of Essaouira, a music group from Morocco. Additionally, Torben Holleufer has been working as a freelance photographer throughout their career.
Torben Holleufer completed their high school education at Gladsaxe Gymnasium from 1973 to 1976, earning their student degree. Torben went on to further their education at Danmarks Journalisthøjskole, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from 1993 to 1997.
