Msc Marcos Pontes Frm, Cfp®

Marcos Pontes has a diverse work experience primarily focused on risk management in the financial industry. Marcos is currently the Head de Risco at Polo Capital, starting in May 2019. Prior to this, Marcos worked as a Professor de Derivativos at Universidade Veiga de Almeida from November 2013 to December 2021. From September 2011 to April 2019, they held the position of Gerente de Risco at FUNDAÇÃO ATLÂNTICO DE SEGURIDADE SOCIAL, with a previous role as Especialista de Risco from December 2007 to September 2011. Marcos began their career as an Estagiário de investimentos at Eletros from June 2001 to November 2003, then worked as an Actuarial Analyst from December 2003 to June 2005, and finally served as a Risk Analyst from June 2005 to December 2007.

Marcos Pontes, MSc, FRM, CFP®, pursued their higher education in various institutions and fields of study. Marcos began their undergraduate studies at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Estatística (Statistics) from 1999 to 2004. Continuing their academic journey, Pontes achieved a Master's degree in Engenharia de Produção (Production Engineering) from Universidade Federal Fluminense between 2009 and 2011.

To further enhance their skill set, Pontes pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finanças (Finance) at Ibmec from 2007 to 2009. In 2016, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to complete the Programa Global de Pensiones (Global Pensions Program) with a specialization in Previdência Privada (Private Pensions).

In addition to their formal education, Pontes has obtained several certifications to expand their knowledge and expertise. Marcos completed the Learning How to Increase Learner Engagement course at LinkedIn in December 2018. Pontes also acquired the CFP® certification, which was offered by Planejar - Associação Brasileira de Planejadores Financeiros in July 2018. Furthermore, they have pursued additional certifications such as CPA-20, Cleaning Data in R Course, Data Manipulation in R with dplyr Course, Data Visualization with ggplot2 (Part 1), FRM (Financial Risk Manager) certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), and Level I Passed from the CFA Institute. Marcos also completed the Reporting with R Markdown Course at DataCamp.
