Pomelo Care is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers and problem solvers who are passionate about improving care for moms and babies. We are transforming outcomes for pregnant people and babies with evidence-based pregnancy and newborn care at scale. Our technology-driven care platform enables us to engage patients early, conduct individualized risk assessments for poor pregnancy outcomes, and deliver coordinated, personalized virtual care throughout pregnancy, NICU stays, and the first postpartum year. We measure ourselves by reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, c-sections and maternal mortality; we improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spend.

Role Description

Your North Star: Provide medical leadership to innovate Pomelo’s virtual care model and optimize outcomes for pregnant people and newborns through population-based implementation of evidence-based care.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with clinical, data, and operations teams to design, implement, and measure  population health programs to address risk and improve maternal and newborn outcomes in a Medicaid population
  • Provide medical and thought leadership for development of new and strategic programs
  • Partner with internal teams and external partners (e.g., plans, academic medical centers) to design, run, and publish studies demonstrating the impact of Pomelo's care model
  • Serve as collaborating MD as needed, providing oversight for Pomelo APPs
  • Provide clinical care for Pomelo patients as needed for care delivery program, including night, weekend, and holiday coverage
  • Represent the practice on partnerships calls and meetings with payers and other external stakeholders
  • Represent Pomelo through presentations to the biomedical community at national and international conferences 

Requirements

  • 8+ years practicing as an attending physician
  • Demonstrated leadership in program implementation, including designing and executing novel programs to improve maternal outcomes
  • Experience using data to drive clinical and operational results
  • A track record of outstanding collaboration and teamwork
  • A profound passion for and sense of urgency to improve maternal outcomes 
  • Exceptional organization and attention to detail
  • A growth mindset with the ability to approach process change and ambiguous situations with enthusiasm, creativity, and accountability 
  • Facility using multiple tech platforms, with an eagerness for advising about platform improvements and adapting to new systems
  • Eager to thrive in a fast-paced, metric-driven environment
  • Phenomenal interpersonal and communication skills

Education and training 

  • Medical degree from an accredited US medical school
  • Successful completion of an accredited US residency program in Obstetrics & Gynecology or Family Medicine with obstetrics fellowship
  • Board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology or Family Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice in the US and willingness to obtain licenses in all US states

Bonus points for:

  • Board certification in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
  • Telehealth and/or remote monitoring experience
  • Experience in outpatient or home-based management of higher-risk patients
  • Substantial experience in perimenopause / menopause care and program development

Our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our company’s size and industry, and are one part of the total compensation package that also includes equity, benefits, and other opportunities at Pomelo Care. In accordance with New York City, Colorado, California, and other applicable laws, Pomelo Care is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, geography, and balancing internal equity. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $210,000-$240,000 annually. We also believe that your personal needs and preferences should be taken into consideration, so we allow some choice between equity and cash.
