Olivia Phillips

Hi, I'm Liv. My professional journey began as a broke single mom working in a restaurant, and it quickly became apparent that this wasn't the path I wanted to stay on. My true calling led me to become a Software Engineer, even though I initially started in Political Science with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. I was working as a bartender and put myself through college, ultimately achieving my coveted Bachelor degree in Computer Information Systems.

The road was long, but I eventually landed my first gig on a great IT team. For more than 15 years now, I've been writing some crazy code. I've dabbled in numerous coding languages such as .NET Core, Javascript, and Angular, utilizing platforms like Visual Studio, Sitecore, Hubspot, and Umbraco to make technology do some really cool stuff. In multiple positions, I was the IT department for small companies, so I was able to wear many hats dipping my feet in all sorts of fun tech. One of my favorite things to build is still a clean application with a front end, fed data by a rock solid API. I love it because of the versatility it offers the engineer and the end user experience, plus being able to see your work on display is pretty amazing.

Today, I am a proud mentor to numerous Junior Engineers, both within my workplace and through my personal website, where I have the privilege of sharing the knowledge I've accrued during my corporate American adventures at www.digitalliv.tech. I also love collaborating with private clients, breathing life into the websites, applications, or tools they've dreamt of, ultimately boosting the efficiency and profitability of their businesses.

While professional achievements are certainly fulfilling, my most cherished accomplishment is my daughter. She is an amazingly talented Registered Nurse specializing in ICU care. She, too, initially set out on a different path but wisely changed her course, now excelling in her chosen field. Our little family also includes three dogs, two of whom were foster fails, finding their permanent home with us. Over the years, I've had the privilege of fostering many dogs for a local rescue, and I still receive updates on some of my past adoptions. My canine companions make for the best co-workers, always eager to support my ideas, even if they're barking up the wrong tree!
