Devops Engineer

PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of DevOps Engineer to be based remotely in Ireland, UK or Europe. Portwest is one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 5,300 staff worldwide, with customer service staff in over 130+ countries and 11 Global warehouses in UK, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, UAE, USA and Australia. We design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities.  

We’re looking for a DevOps engineer to join our digital team, implementing and managing the companies cloud environments, security, performance, and code deployments for current and new projects.

You will need extensive AWS technologies, Ubuntu, MySQL, and Redis experience. Good knowledge of PHP/Laravel 8+ is required.

Role is remotely based in Ireland, UK or Europe.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Build CI/CD Pipeline capabilities

• Architect/Build/maintain AWS Cloud Infrastructure

• Provide level 2 technical support

• Perform root cause analysis for production errors

• Research problems and break them into deliverable parts

• Work with a Lean mindset and deliver value quickly

• Developing cloud first, global IaaS, CI/CD, and general automation processes utilizing the appropriate technology for the task at hand

REQUIREMENTS: 

• 5+ years in software engineering; or a Bachelor in Computer Science or other related field

• Strong knowledge of Laravel is necessary

• Experience as a DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer or similar software engineering role

• Experience with AWS technologies such as CDK /CloudFormation,  Elastic Container Service/Elastic Container Registry, AWS EC2, ELB, RDS and Cloudwatch

• Experience with implementing and managing high-performance MySQL and Redis systems.

• Experience with Docker

• Experience with Bitbucket Pipelines

• Experience in cloud resource optimization preferred

• Experience with Linux and Windows system administration

• PHP Development expertise, preferably with Laravel 8+ experience

• Strong communication skills

• Working knowledge of Lean and Agile methodologies
