PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of Finance Manager in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Portwest is one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 5,300 staff worldwide, with customer service staff in over 130+ countries and 11 Global warehouses in UK, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, UAE, USA and Australia. We design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities. 

JOB SUMMARY:

The Finance Manager will develop and implement the company’s financial strategy, goals and objectives for Tanzania, where Portwest are newly setting up operations.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and manage annual budgets for the finance and accounts department and collaborate with other departments to ensure budgetary compliance.

  • Contribute to the development of financial strategies and long-term financial plans for the organization.

  • Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

  • Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

  • Analyze financial variances against budgets and forecasts, providing explanations for discrepancies.

  • Manage and optimize cash flow to ensure the organization's financial stability. Where required, They will possess bank exposure and have experience handling bank loans, sourcing of new finances including foreign finance.

  • Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure accuracy in financial records.

  • Supervise the processing of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.

  • Monitor and enforce compliance with financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Identify and assess financial risks, implementing strategies to mitigate them. Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making by senior management.

  • Evaluate potential investments and provide financial analysis for decision-making.

  • Develop financial models to support business planning and investment decisions..

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and clients, especially in financial matters.

  • Any other tasks assigned by the department head and management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 10+ years experience in a similar role (Experience within the garments manufacturing industry is preferred but not required)

  • Candidate should have Chartered Accountant with Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance preferable or BBA & MBA in Accounting/Finance degree

  • Be capable to present monthly results to Finance Leadership Team for review and analysis.

  • Responsive to financial inquiries by gathering, analysing, summarising and providing relevant commentary on the financial information available

  • Responsible for ensuring balance sheet for the division is reconciled monthly including preparation of supporting schedules.
