PORTWEST, a leading global manufacturer of safety wear, workwear and PPE is currently seeking applications for the position of Frontend Developer in HQ, Westport. Portwest is one of the fastest growing workwear companies in the world currently employing over 5,300 staff worldwide, with customer service staff in over 130+ countries and 11 Global warehouses in UK, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Spain, UAE, USA and Australia. We design, manufacture and distribute market leading workwear, safety wear and PPE in fully owned production facilities.  

JOB TITLE: Frontend Developer 
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full Time, Permanant  
REPORTS TO: Head of Digital Development  

We are currently in search of an experienced Frontend Developer who possesses a wealth of experience operating within an Agile environment, specializing in the development of intricate Inertia & Vue.js front-ends on a PHP Laravel-based micro-service architecture. 

The Frontend Developer is crucial in ensuring the functionality and user experience of our products and platforms is high-speed, user-friendly, and scalable. 

Collaboration is a key aspect of their role, as they closely work with various internal teams, including marketing, commercial, quality assurance, and customer success, to address and enhance software functionality. They act as a superhero, contributing to all aspects of frontend development, and are adept at crafting clean and efficient code that ensures the overall system's optimal performance.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Write good, efficient code that's been tested and documented well.

  • Make sure our code is top-notch by creating tests and making sure everything works together.

  • Use modern techniques and tools to add new features to our product.

  • Help keep our code in shape by giving it a good review, making sure it follows the right style and practices, and is built to scale.

  • Work with a super team of engineers to plan and create new technical stuff.

  • Work with our supply chain, marketing, and product teams to make new features and make them even better.

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Have previous work experience as a Software engineer for 6 or more years

  • Have a degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering (or something like that), or lots of experience in the industry.

  • Know your way around Inertia and VueJS, along with a knowledge of PHP and Laravel.  (Livewire, Nginx, AWS, Redis, MySQL would be a bonus!).

  • Be proficient at the latest Vue 3 and Inertia, Unit and functional testing, and integrating APIs effectively.

  • You can handle a project from start to finish - from the planning and research to the final product.

  • Good communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Be able to work as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Know your way around big bits of code and how to set them up to grow.

  • Previous experience using CI/CD, Git, and Agile ways of working.

  • Know how to use tools to make our product go even faster.

  • Can turn ideas and designs into things that work and can be used again and again.

  • Detailed orientated and organised, ensure that code is typed properly.

  • English as a first language, or exceptional English as a second language.
