Matt Vensel

Matt Vensel is an experienced sports journalist with a strong focus on hockey and football coverage. Currently serving as the Penguins Reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette since August 2018, Vensel leads hockey coverage, manages editorial decisions, and contributes to various multimedia platforms. Prior to this role, Vensel held positions at HCPro as an Associate Editor, where responsibilities included editing newsletters about healthcare safety, and at the Star Tribune as a Vikings reporter, where coverage earned national recognition. Additional experience includes roles at The Baltimore Sun, b free daily, and Towson University, along with an early internship at The Pittsburgh Penguins. Vensel holds a B.A. in Media Studies from Penn State University and multiple Master's degrees in Professional Writing from Towson University.
