Giovanni Azzone

Born in Milan in 1962.Graduated with honors in Industrial Technologies Engineering, with major in management science, from the Polytechnic of Milan.

He is Professor of Business and strategic decisions since 1994 at the Polytechnic of Milan, where he served as the Dean from December 2010 to December 2016.

He is President of Arexpo SpA and Spezia & Carrara Cruise Terminal srl.He is a member of the Ethics Committee of AssoConsult-Confindustria, of the scientific council of the Renzo Piano Foundation and of the steering committee of the BEIC (European Library of Information and Culture) Foundation.

He is President of the Milan Community Foundation and is a member of the scientific committee of NGInfra, a Dutch non-profit body for the study of new generation infrastructures.

He was a member of the board of FSItaliane SpA and of ACSM spa and held various institutional positions related to the most prestigious Italian and foreign universities and to various ministries.

He has carried out and still develops research in the field of organizational analysis, management control and risk management for companies and public administrations.

More recently, he has focused on the issue of digitalization and data management, with specific reference to solutions enabling a fair balance between individuals’ data protection and social utility.

He is the author of numerous books and has published more than 70 articles in international journals.He has been a member of the Board of Poste Italiane since May 2016.
