Chief Scientist And VP Of Research at Potomac Institute for Policy Studies

Robert Hummel's work experience includes serving as the Chief Scientist and VP of Research at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies since May 2009. Robert previously worked at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency as a Senior Research Advisor from September 2016 to September 2020. In addition, they served as the President and CEO of the US Technology Leadership Council from May 2014 to May 2015 while still maintaining their role as Chief Scientist of the Potomac Institute. Prior to that, they worked as a Principal at Booz Allen Hamilton from June 2006 to April 2009. Robert also served as a Program Manager at DARPA from July 1997 to June 2006 and held the same position at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency from 1997 to 2006. Their early career involved working as a Faculty member at New York University's Courant Institute in the Computer Science Department from September 1980 to July 1997.

Robert Hummel pursued their education in the field of Mathematics. Robert began their academic journey in 1971 at the University of Chicago, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Mathematics in 1975. Following this, they furthered their studies at the University of Minnesota from 1975 to 1980, focusing on Mathematics. Robert earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota in 1980.
