Mextli Jimenez-Colores has a diverse work experience in the field of education. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as a Dual Language Teacher at San Antonio ISD, where they facilitated lessons in English and Spanish for first grade English Learners. Mextli'sresponsibilities included lesson planning, behavior observation, communication with parents, and translation of materials. Mextli also conducted research on literacy pedagogy and created original educational materials. Prior to that, Mextli was a Corps Member at Teach For America, collaborating with other educators to promote justice in public schools. Mextli Jimenez-Colores completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in International Relations and Affairs, with a focus on Spanish, at the University of Colorado Boulder from 2015 to 2019. During their time there, they also participated in a short-term program at the CIEE Council on International Educational Exchange in 2017, studying Spanish and Iberian Studies.

In 2023, Mextli enrolled in Colorado State University and obtained a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Education and Human Resource Studies, specifically in the field of Education Sciences, which they completed in 2024.

Furthermore, Mextli received additional certifications, including the EC-6 Bilingual Education Supplemental and the EC-6 Certified Bilingual Teacher from the Education Service Center, Region 20 in June 2020.
