David Mafe

Chief Diversity Officer at UCHealth

David Mafe is the chief diversity officer for UCHealth and the vice president of human resources for the system’s metro Denver region. UCHealth is a nationally recognized, nonprofit health care system with operating revenue of $5.4 billion and a workforce of more than 28,000 people.

As the chief diversity officer, Mr. Mafe works closely with leaders at UCHealth and in the community to shape the organization’s culture to be one that values diversity and inclusion, and lives out its values in the delivery of care. In his role as vice president, he provides strategic HR advice to the executive team and oversees all HR operations in the metro Denver region, which includes University of Colorado Hospital, Highlands Ranch Hospital, Longs Peak Hospital, Broomfield Hospital and clinic locations.

Prior to joining UCHealth in 2021, Mr. Mafe worked at Emory Healthcare (EHC), the most comprehensive health system in Georgia. He served as vice president for Human Resources at Emory University Hospital Midtown (EUHM) in Atlanta and was responsible for employee engagement and relations, patient experience, leader development, performance management, succession planning, compensation, talent acquisition, diversity, equity & inclusion, guest services, safety/emergency preparedness, immigration, and employee & patient parking.
