Director of People and Culture at Power To Be

Sharde Long, CPHR, has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Sharde currently holds the position of Director of People and Culture at Power To Be, which they have held since March 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Head of People Operations at Power To Be from August 2021 to March 2023.

Before joining Power To Be, Sharde worked as a Human Resources Consultant at Reimagine Work starting in December 2018. Sharde also served as the Human Resources Manager at Victoria Women's Transition House from April 2018 to August 2021.

Sharde began their career in the non-profit sector at the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre, where they held the positions of Coordinator of Volunteers from August 2016 to April 2018 and Administrative Assistant from January 2016 to August 2017.

Prior to their roles in the non-profit sector, Sharde gained experience in various positions at the City of Victoria BC, including Senior Clerk / Storeperson from February 2013 to December 2015, Clerk from June 2011 to February 2013, and Cashier/ Receptionist from May 2009 to June 2011.

Additionally, Sharde worked as a Research Coordinator at the University of Victoria from October 2010 to May 2011 and as a Front End Supervisor at Thrifty Foods from September 2005 to December 2008.

Sharde Long, CPHR, has a diverse education history. Sharde obtained their Post Degree Diploma in Human Resources Management and Leadership Studies from Camosun College in 2018. In the same year, they also completed the Community Leadership Development Program at Leadership Victoria, focusing on community leadership.

In 2016, Sharde obtained a certificate in Foundations of Volunteer Management from Volunteer Victoria, showcasing their dedication to volunteer work. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology at the University of Victoria between 2009 and 2012. Sharde began their educational journey at Camosun College, earning their Diploma in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies in 2009.

In addition to their extensive education, Sharde Long has also obtained the CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) certification from CPHR BC & Yukon in March 2022, further solidifying their expertise in the field of human resources.
