Helio Takai

Interim Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Pratt Institute-Main

Helio Takai is an accomplished academic and physicist with extensive experience in both educational and research settings. Currently serving as the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Pratt Institute since July 2018, Helio has previously held key roles including Interim Dean and Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics and Science at the same institution. Helio's academic endeavors also include a tenure as an Adjunct Professor at Stony Brook University. The research career spans decades, with significant positions at CERN and Brookhaven National Laboratory, where Helio led efforts in integrating advanced electronics systems for high-energy physics experiments. Helio's early education culminated in a PhD in Nuclear Physics from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, following a Master's from Universidade de São Paulo.
