John Romanski

Information & Communication Technology Project Manager at Precision Contracting Services

John Romanski has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. John began their career at Protel, Inc. in 1984 as a Production/Test Supervisor. After that, they worked at various companies such as Comm-Net and Telephone Contractors, Inc. as a Technician, specializing in key/PBX installation and repair, premise and OSP cabling installation and repair, and payphone installation and repair.

In 1987, they joined Allnet Communications as a Long Distance Switching Technician, responsible for the installation and repair of long distance telephone switches and maintenance of copper hi-cap and fiber optic carrier systems. John then moved on to work at Telephone Contractors, Inc. again in 1988, where they continued their work as a Technician.

John also has experience in the fire service, serving as a Volunteer Firefighter at South Marion Fire Rescue from 1971 to 1987. During this time, they were responsible for maintaining and operating multiple fire stations.

In 1990, they joined the University of Central Florida as a Senior Telecom Services Specialist, where they focused on outside plant design, construction project management, campus telecom infrastructure master planning, and precast and pour-in-place maintenance holes.

Most recently, John worked at Precision Contracting Services, Inc. as an Information & Communication Technology Project Manager, starting in 2017. In this role, they were responsible for designing and project managing various projects related to outside plant optical fiber infrastructure, structured cabling, intelligent transportation systems, intelligent railway systems, metropolitan FTTX, and passive optical networks.

John Romanski has a comprehensive education history with a focus on emergency management, telecommunications, project management, and various technical skills. In 2001, they completed the Ten Hour OSHA Construction Safety & Health Course offered by the City of Orlando, Florida's Risk Management Department. From 2001 to 2002, John attended BICSI and acquired knowledge in grounding and protection fundamentals for telecommunications systems as well as protection for the modern telecommunications network. In 2003, they furthered their expertise by completing The Light Brigade's course on fiber optic design, installation, and maintenance.

In 2005, John participated in SkillPath's program on the essentials of communicating with diplomacy and professionalism. The following year, they enrolled in the University of Central Florida and completed the Team Work Series and Supervisory Skills Series.

Moving on to 2006, John attended the Project Management Institute (PMI) to gain proficiency in competencies, project structures, and an introduction to PMI's Guide to the PMBOK. John also completed a course in Architectural Desktop 2007 Fundamentals through Imaginit Technologies.

In 2009, John pursued integrated physical security training through Anixter. The next year, they expanded their knowledge in information technology project management with programs from the Telecommunications Project Management Association (TPMA) and BICSI. Additionally, they became certified as an Information Technology Project Manager and a Telecommunications Project Manager.

Throughout 2010, John completed BICSI's ITS Design Fundamentals Program and TPMA's Information Technology Project Management. In 2011, they attended various seminars, including the Corning Cabling Systems' Fast Forward Data Center Seminar, the ScanSource Security's Fundamentals of IP Video Surveillance System Design, and Project Management for IP Surveillance Networks. Additionally, they obtained certifications as an Outside Plant Designer, a Wireless Designer, a Data Center Design Consultant, and a Registered Telecommunications Project Manager through BICSI.

Furthermore, in 2011, John completed the Underground Utility Damage Investigation course offered by the Common Ground Alliance (CGA) and attended BICSI's DC125 Beta Course on Data Center Design and Best Practices.

Throughout 2016, John furthered their emergency management knowledge through online courses at FEMA's Emergency Management Institute. These courses covered the National Incident Management System Introduction and the Introduction to the Incident Command System ICS-100 for Higher Education.

Most recently, in 2021, John obtained various certifications from Specified Technologies, Inc. - STI Firestop, including Firestop Specifications: What Architects Need to Know, Firestopping Engineering Judgements (EJ's), Firestopping Key Points, Firestopping Requirements in the IBC, and In-Building Wireless Communications. Additionally, in 2013, they became an Electronic Safety and Security Designer certified by BICSI. In 2004, John obtained certification as a Certified Fiber Optics Installer from the Electronics Technicians Association.
