Wang Yao has a diverse work experience in scientific research and development. In 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where they focused on synthesizing 3-amino and 3-nitro-2,3,6-trideoxypyranoses and optimizing reactions. From 2017 to 2023, they joined Stony Brook University as a Research Assistant and also served as a Teaching Assistant in an Organic Chemistry lab. During this time, they conducted reaction discovery, developed Pd-catalyzed reactions for carbohydrates, and led a team in radical-migration iodination. In 2022, they interned as a Chemical Development Intern at Boehringer Ingelheim. Currently, they work as a Scientist I at Prime Medicine, Inc., where they apply their scientific expertise in an industry setting.
Wang Yao began their education in 2009 at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where they pursued a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy. Wang successfully completed their undergraduate program in 2013.
Following that, Wang Yao continued their studies at the same university and obtained a Master's degree in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, which they completed in 2016.
In 2017, Wang Yao enrolled in Stony Brook University to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry. Their doctoral studies are expected to conclude in 2023.
