Stefan Heber

Principal Engineer Computer Vision at Prism Labs, Inc.

Stefan Heber has a diverse work experience in the field of computer vision and research. Stefan started their career as a Research Assistant and PhD Student at Technische Universität Graz, where they focused on holistic computational photography techniques and developed efficient methods for unconventional imaging devices. Stefan later worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the same institution, specializing in convex optimization, variational methods, and machine learning.

After that, Stefan joined Alicona as a Senior Research Scientist, where they were responsible for analyzing and implementing image-based reconstruction algorithms. Stefan'smain focus was on improving the core shape-from-focus reconstruction pipeline using computer vision and machine learning techniques.

In 2018, Stefan joined the Medical University of Graz as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the Neuroimaging Research Unit. Here, their work involved developing Deep Learning based methods for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Stefan focused on Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) and explainable AI (XAI).

In 2020, Stefan moved to Naked Labs as a Senior Computer Vision Engineer, where they continued to contribute their expertise in computer vision. Finally, in 2021, they joined Prism Labs, Inc. in the same role.

Throughout their career, Stefan has been involved in extensive software development, project management, reviewing scientific papers, and presenting research results at international conferences.

Stefan Heber completed their education in the field of computer science and technical mathematics, primarily at Technische Universität Graz. From 2003 to 2010, they pursued a Dipl.-Ing. (Master of Science) degree in Technical Mathematics. Subsequently, they continued their studies at the same institute, completing a Dr.techn. (PhD) degree in Computer Science from 2010 to 2015.
