Phi Dong

Phi Dong is a Principal UI Engineer at Productfy. Dong has over six years of experience as a Senior Front End Engineer and Senior Software Engineer. Dong started their career at Barracuda (NYSE: CUDA) in May 2014 and worked there for three years until they joined Weedmaps in September 2017.

At Weedmaps, Dong was the front end tech lead of a squad with four FE engineers. Phi worked on a cross-functional team following agile-methodologies. Dong also developed, reviewed code and released product features in multiple server side rendered React codebases. In addition, they mentored and paired with junior engineers with focus leveling them up. Phi also organized lunch & learn to help promote knowledge sharing and provide avenues for people to work on teaching/presenting. As part of this initiative, they worked with people to help them prepare slides and refine talks as well as presented topics. Dong championed accessibility within the frontend chapter and worked to spread knowledge, train people and fix accessibility issues.

Dong left Weedmaps in September 2020 to join Productfy as a Principal UI Engineer.

Phi Dong has a BS in Environmental Engineering from UC Irvine.

Their manager is Loc Nguyen, Head of Engineering. Phi Dong works with Theresa Luu - Sr. Software Engineer, Web, Lindsey Zylstra - Client Support Engineer, and Jonathan Martinez - Junior UI Engineer.
