Kolitha Karunaratne, P.E. has extensive work experience in the field of engineering. Kolitha worked as a Principal Consultant at Intertek-PSI starting in May 2018. Before that, they held the position of Senior Project Engineer at Intertek-PSI, where they worked on the SH288 Toll Lane Project. Prior to joining Intertek-PSI, Kolitha worked as a Senior Project Engineer at Professional Service Industries, Inc. (PSI) on the SH288 Toll Lanes Project in Texas. Kolitha has also worked as the CMET Operations Manager at Fugro Consultants from July 2015 to September 2016. Earlier in their career, Kolitha held positions such as CMET Project Manager at Fugro Consultants, CMET Project Manager at Terracon, and Staff Engineer/Geotechnical at Geotech Engineering and Testing (GET). Kolitha has also gained international experience in Japan, working as a Civil Engineer/Engineering Administrator at Kumagai Gumi Co. Ltd. and as a Civil Engineer at TOA Corporation. Kolitha started their career as a Training Engineer at Mitsui Construction of Japan and Samuels and Sons in Sri Lanka.

Kolitha Karunaratne, P.E. completed their education in a chronological manner. Kolitha acquired a National Diploma in Engineering Sciences from the Institute of Engineering Technology (IET) in Katunayake, Sri Lanka between 1992 and 1996. Following this, they pursued their Part-1 degree in Civil Engineering from the Engineering Council, studying from 1996 to 1999. Later in their educational journey, they attended the University of Houston-Downtown from 2004 to 2005, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Structural Engineering. Finally, from 2019 to 2021, they pursued a Master of Civil Engineering degree with a specialization in Geotechnical at The University of Texas at Arlington.
