Sukumar Nagendran has held various roles and positions in multiple companies. Sukumar currently serves as the President of Taysha Gene Therapies, where they have been since December 2022. Sukumar Nagendran's education history is as follows:

Sukumar Nagendran started their education in 1971 at Royal College, where they completed the Advanced Level Exam in Zoology, Chemistry, Physics, and Pure Math. In 1983, they successfully completed the 2nd MBBS exam in Anatomy, Physiology, and Biochem at North Colombo Medical College. Later, in 1988, they received a BA degree in Biochem, Psychology, and Religion from Rutgers University. Continuing their education in the medical field, Sukumar Nagendran obtained an MD degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1994. They further pursued their studies at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where they completed a residency program in Internal Medicine from 1994 to 1997.

Throughout their career, Sukumar Nagendran continued to enhance their knowledge and skills. In 2008, they completed a program on "Strategies for Enhancing Executive Influence" at the Center for Management Research. They also acquired additional certifications, including an Executive Education for Leaders certification from The Wharton School in 2010 and a Mini MBA Program in BioPharma Innovation from Rutgers Business School in 2012.
