Gordon Cheng has worked in the software engineering industry since 2012. In 2012, they began working as a Student Office Automation Assistant for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). In this role, they maintained legal documents, input data into ADP systems, and received and screened telephone inquiries. In 2017, they joined Quest Diagnostics as a Junior Programmer, where they interpreted, converted, and refactored hundreds of custom middleware, and documented and translated existing workflows to develop a unified laboratory information application. Gordon was later promoted to Senior Programmer Analyst, where they analyzed existing software and enhanced legacy software systems for industry standards and compliance. Gordon also generated millions in revenue by enabling a lab to automate complex workflows between vendor instruments and the middleware to perform new laboratory tests. Additionally, they created an API Microservice system architecture with automated Git deployment to increase developer productivity and debugging, and to improve maintenance and project deliveries. In 2021, they joined Promenade Software as a Software Engineer.

Gordon Cheng attended Diablo Valley College from 2011 to 2015, where they earned an Associate's Degree in Computer Science. Gordon then attended UC Irvine from 2015 to 2017, where they received a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
