Position Summary: Promesa Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Child Nutrition Program Assistant to join our team. The Child Nutrition Program Assistant will support the daily operations of the school’s nutrition program, ensuring that all meals are prepared, served, and documented in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role is essential in promoting the health and well-being of our students through nutritious meals.

Key Responsibilities: Meal Preparation and Service: Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks in accordance with menu plans and nutritional guidelines. Ensure that food is prepared safely and in a timely manner, maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

Program Compliance: Follow all Child Nutrition Program regulations and guidelines, including those related to portion sizes, food storage, and sanitation. Assist in maintaining accurate records of meal counts, inventory, and food production as required by regulatory agencies.

Customer Service: Provide friendly and courteous service to students, staff, and visitors. Address any concerns or special dietary needs promptly and professionally.

Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other nutrition staff and school personnel to ensure smooth operation of the meal program. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in school nutrition.

Cleaning and Maintenance: Assist with cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas. Ensure that all areas are kept clean and sanitary, following established cleaning schedules and procedures.

Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in food service or school nutrition programs preferred. Experience in a school or similar environment is a plus.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of basic principles of nutrition, food preparation, and sanitation. Ability to follow standardized recipes and portion guidelines. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Certifications: Food Handler’s Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to operate kitchen equipment and tools safely.
