Matthew Gelvin

Consultant (Mathematics and Data Science) at ProPair

Matthew Gelvin has been working in the field of Mathematics and Data Science since 2010. Matthew began their career as a Postdoc at the University of Copenhagen in 2010, where they were actively engaged in Copenhagen research group and helped run an international conference. In 2012, they became an Instructor at Wellesley College, where they designed and taught four calculus courses and presented research at the Bisets in Algebra and Topology conference in Amiens, France. In 2013, they moved to Wesleyan University as an Assistant Professor, where they designed and taught four different mathematics courses and advanced independent reading courses. In 2015, they became a Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Bilkent University, and in 2017 they were promoted to Assistant Professor Of Mathematics. Most recently, in 2020, they joined ProPair as a Consultant (Mathematics and Data Science).

Matthew Gelvin received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics from the University of Chicago in 2005. Matthew then went on to receive a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2010. Matthew has also obtained several certifications in the field of computer science, including Machine Learning from Coursera in April 2015, Algorithms: Design and Analysis, Part 1 from Coursera in March 2015, and three edX certificates: Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python in October 2014, Artificial Intelligence, and Introduction to Big Data with Apache Spark.
