Southeast Regional Medical Director at Prospero Health

Dr. Karen Reichow is the Southeast Regional Medical Director at Prospero Health. Karen has been a hospice and palliative medicine physician for over 15 years. Dr. Reichow started their career at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in 2005 as the Vice President of Medical Services. In this role, they oversaw the hospice census growth from 100 to 350 patients. Karen also recruited and supervised 5 physicians and 8 nurse practitioners. In 2010, they became the Lead Physician of Palliative Care Consult Service at New Hanover Regional Medical Center PC. In this role, they served over 1600 patients in 2014 and was the physician champion for Schwartz rounds. In 2015, they became the Medical Director at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Health System. In this role, they established a new inpatient palliative care program for this innovative healthcare system with exponential growth, a new medical school and residency program, and a commitment to give back to the community they serve.

Karen Reichow is a medical doctor who attended Wayne State University for their undergraduate and medical degrees. Karen also has a certification in Academy for Strategic Management 2006 from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Karen is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and also by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in Integrated Holistic Medicine.
