Flávia Ghiraldini is a Cell Biologist currently employed at Protara Therapeutics. Flávia began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2014, where they conducted basic and translational research on breast cancer epigenetics, maintained multiple mouse strain colonies, performed experiments, analyzed data, and presented their findings. During their time at Mount Sinai, they led two different projects in mammary gland development and breast cancer epigenetics and co-authored two peer-reviewed publications. In 2019, they became an Adjunct Professor at Mercy College, where they taught General Biology Lectures and Laboratory classes and was the recipient of the HHMI Inclusive Excellence Fellowship. In 2018, they were awarded the Stacy's Rise Program Award to study Entrepreneurship in the food industry at the International Culinary Center, where they completed a 90-hour program. From 2009-2011, they were a Post Doc at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas, where they identified the existence of a hyperglycemic memory influenced by epigenetic factors in a hepatocyte cell line, mentored two undergraduate students, and participated in international conferences. In 2013, they completed an internship trainee at the Raul Mostoslavsky's laboratory at MGH, where they expanded their skills in molecular and cellular biology. From 2011-2013, they were an Internship Student at the University of Edinburgh, where they learned and practiced Molecular Biology skills and developed part of their PhD thesis.

Flávia Ghiraldini obtained their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2009. Flávia then attended USP - Universidade de São Paulo from 2004 to 2005, studying Biological Sciences. Finally, they received their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Universidade Estadual de Campinas in 2013.
