Samantha Bucktrout has extensive experience in the field of cancer immunotherapy and research strategy. Samantha is currently the Vice President of Research Strategy at Akamis Bio. Before that, they held various roles at the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, including Senior Director of Research and Director of Research. In these positions, they led initiatives in immune-therapy-resistant tumor types, oncolytic virus development, and tumor-immune profiling technology collaborations. Samantha also played an active role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at the institute. Prior to their time at the Parker Institute, Samantha worked at Pfizer, where they served as Associate Director, Principal Scientist, and Senior Scientist. Their work at Pfizer focused on T cell targeting in cancer immunotherapy and type 1 diabetes. Samantha also played a key role in the Pfizer-MD Anderson Cancer Center Immunotherapy platform collaboration. Samantha began their career as a Post Doctoral Fellow at UCSF, where they studied CD4+ Foxp3+ T regulatory cell stability during autoimmune inflammation. Samantha also worked as a Post Doctoral Scholar at Northwestern University, where they focused on the propagation and regulation of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis. Samantha received their graduate education at the University of Edinburgh, where they completed their studies as a Graduate Student.

Samantha Bucktrout began their education in 1993 at the University of Aberdeen, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science, Hons. degree in Immunobiology. Samantha completed this program in 1997. Later, Samantha attended The University of Edinburgh from 1998 to 2002, where they obtained a Research Doctorate in Immunology.
