Heather started their career as a staff accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick in 1993. Heather then moved to Welkin Associates, Ltd. in 1995, where they became the lead accountant. In 2003, Heather left Welkin Associates to become the accountant for Dominion Hills Area Recreation. Heather then moved to Zeta Associates in 2004, where they worked as an accountant for three years. In 2007, Heather left Zeta Associates to become the financial administrator for Homes, Lowry, Horn & Johnson, Ltd.
In 2015, Heather started their own accounting business, Kogut Accounting Services. Heather provided various levels of bookkeeping services to their clients, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly services. Heather also helped their clients with payroll, state and local business tax filings, and business license tax filings. In 2018, Heather joined the Public Interest Registry as a senior manager of accounting.
Heather Kogut has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Villanova University. Heather also has a certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Certified Public Accountant, as well as a certification from the United States Department of Defense as a Top Secret Security Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (Single Scope Background Investigation - SSBI). Heather is also certified as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Maryland.
