Chris Rackauckas

Chris Rackauckas has a diverse range of work experience in scientific research, teaching, and software development. Their most recent position is as the VP of Modeling and Simulation at Julia Computing, where they lead the development of the DifferentialEquations software and integrate domain models with artificial intelligence techniques. Prior to this, they were an Applied Mathematics Instructor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, conducting research in numerical differential equations and their applications. They also served as the Director of Scientific Research at Pumas-AI, where they developed software and led research in machine learning-infused pharmacometrics for accelerating clinical trials. Additionally, Chris has worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Maryland Baltimore, a Postdoctoral Researcher at UC Irvine, and a Project Manager at Baidu, Inc. They have also worked as a Freelance Website Developer, contributing to open-source projects and charitable causes, and as a Research Assistant and Web Developer at Oberlin College. Their various roles have encompassed research, teaching, software development, and technical support.

Chris Rackauckas began their education in 2009 at Oberlin College, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics. During their time at Oberlin College, they also completed minors in Physics, Computer Science, and Economics. In 2012, Chris participated in the Research Experience for Undergraduates program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, focusing on High Performance Computing and Statistics. They then went on to pursue further education at UC Irvine, earning a Master's Degree in Mathematics from 2013 to 2015. Chris continued their studies at UC Irvine and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics from 2013 to 2018.
