James Matthews

Scientist at Purespring Therapeutics

James Matthews has a diverse work experience. James started their career in 2015 as an Intern at Waters Corporation. In the same year, they also began their role as a Scientific Diver and Research Assistant at Operation Wallacea. In 2018, they became a Chalet host at a Private Chalet in the exclusive Courchevel ski resort. In 2019, they took on two roles: Personal Tutor at Osborne Cawkwell Tuition, and Assistant Manager at Ocean Leisure Limited. Most recently, in 2021, they became a Senior Laboratory Technician at Purespring Therapeutics, where they are responsible for vector production, capsid development, promoter optimisation and in vitro cell culture. James also established precision cut renal slices as a method for ex vivo transduction for the first time.

James Matthews obtained a Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology from UCL between 2015 and 2018. James then attended Winchester College from 2010 to 2015. In 2021, they obtained an Associate Member AMIMarEST certification from the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST). James also completed a Master's degree in Oceanography from the University of Southampton in 2021.
