Christina Coons leads the Purpose Brand media relations team as an informed and empathetic communicator with an intrinsic drive to advocate for purpose-driven organizations and life-changing initiatives. Over the years, she has developed media relationships from the managers and producers who set the mainstream media agenda to the beat reporters, trade publication editors, podcast hosts and bloggers that influence them. They often describe her communication style as uniquely persistent and polite.
Integrated marketing communications plays a persuasive role in making positive change. Christina is deeply connected to brands that value corporate social responsibility, and empowers her colleagues to collaborate for outstanding, measurable results.
Christina’s natural curiosity for learning and solving complex problems began in her childhood in New England’s picturesque Farmington Valley. Inspired by her parents, both educators at a boarding school, she earned a master’s degree in liberal studies from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and pursued a career in education. Christina engaged deeply in the community, creating service learning programs, coaching championship field hockey teams and serving as a class dean.
Though teaching was close to her heart, Christina was intrigued by the potential to help organizations reach their goals, first as an active nonprofit director leading major fundraising campaigns and membership acquisition programs. These roles gradually led her to develop skills in publicity and media relations strategies, social media campaigns and events. A detail-oriented, strategic thinker, Christina thrived as a digital publicist, publicity director and expert outreach consultant. Her interdisciplinary background makes her appreciate the unique qualities of her clients.
