Edgardo R. Parrilla Castellar

Edgardo R. Parrilla Castellar has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of pathology. Edgardo R. has held various roles at different institutions, starting with their current position as a Laboratory Director at Q² Solutions since April 2020. Prior to this, they worked as an Assistant Professor in Pathology at Duke University Health System from May 2015 to December 2020. Edgardo R. also served as a Laboratory Director at Almac Group from May 2017 to April 2020.

Before their time at Duke and Almac Group, Edgardo worked as an Assistant Professor in Pathology at the University of Washington from 2013 to 2015. Edgardo R. also held leadership positions at the Latin American Pathology Foundation, serving as President from March 2013 to March 2015 and as Secretary-Treasurer from March 2012 to March 2013.

In addition to their academic and leadership roles, Edgardo has pursued specialized training in various fellowships. Edgardo R. was a Fellow in Molecular Genetic Pathology from July 2012 to June 2013 and a Fellow in Surgical Pathology from July 2011 to June 2012 at Mayo Clinic. Edgardo R. also gained experience as a Resident in Anatomic Pathology at the National Institutes of Health from July 2008 to June 2011.

Earlier in their career, Edgardo worked as a General Practitioner at Menocal Family Practice from 2008 to 2011 and as a Consultant at the Puerto Rico Institute of Forensic Sciences from March 2008 to June 2008. Edgardo R. completed their residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Hospital from July 2006 to February 2008.

Edgardo R. Parrilla Castellar completed their BA in Biology at the Universidad de Puerto Rico in 1997. Edgardo R. then pursued their M.D. at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine from 1997 to 2006. In parallel, between 1999 and 2004, they obtained a Ph.D. in Tumor Biology from the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including Anatomic Pathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology from The American Board of Pathology, Physician Licenses from various institutions such as the North Carolina Medical Board and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and a License to Practice Medicine and Surgery from the MINNESOTA BOARD OF MEDICAL PRACTICE.
