Javed Idris

Javed Idris has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Javed started their career as a Research Assistant at Cornell University, where they worked on the design of a 70-story steel building. From there, they joined John Portman & Associate Inc as a Structural Design Engineer, where they were responsible for the design and construction supervision of the 37-story Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco.

In 1987, Javed joined Simons Eastern Consultants Inc as a Lead Design Engineer, where they supervised a team of engineers and draftsmen and performed seismic analysis on various structures. Javed then moved on to Shawinigan Integ Inc as a Project Manager, where they worked on a Coal Fired Power Project funded by CIDA and the World Bank.

In 1993, Javed became the Chief Executive Officer at INTEG- Integrated Engineering Services, where they led a team of over 50 managers, engineers, and staff members. Javed introduced risk management and value engineering as part of project management, and provided end-to-end solutions for clients.

In 2007, Javed joined Barclays Bank as the Regional Head (Director) of CRES (Corporate Real Estate Services). In this role, they managed and implemented the growth and expansion of over 800 distribution points across multiple regions. Javed standardized design guidelines, reduced costs, re-structured and integrated acquired businesses, and led infrastructure growth in various countries.

Most recently, Javed worked as the Head of Premise & Projects at Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), starting in 2014. In this role, they aligned the real estate portfolio strategy and facilities management with the business needs. Javed developed processes for improved compliance and financial discipline, and resolved legacy audit issues.

Throughout their career, Javed has consistently demonstrated expertise in project management, design, and coordination, as well as an ability to align real estate strategies with business goals.

Javed Idris completed their Master of Engineering degree in Structure Engineering and Business Management from Cornell University between 1979 and 1983.
