Erica McCowan

Erica McCowan, CFE has a diverse work experience in the field of healthcare fraud investigation. Erica is currently working at Qlarant as a Project Manager since June 2021. Prior to this, they held the position of Lead Health Fraud Investigator at Qlarant from October 2016 to June 2021. Before joining Qlarant, Erica worked at Health Integrity, LLC as a Lead Health Fraud Investigator from October 2016 to June 2021, and as a Health Fraud Investigator from May 2013 to October 2016. Prior to their roles in healthcare fraud investigation, Erica had experience at NCI, Inc. as a Senior Claims Analyst from December 2009 to April 2013. At NCI, Inc., they conducted reviews of medical records, applied Medicare guidelines, and analyzed billing patterns to detect potentially fraudulent practices. Erica also gained experience at Cigna Government Services, where they worked as an Appeals Associate from August 2008 to December 2009, providing medical review for disputed claims. Before that, they worked as a Claims Processing Associate from September 2007 to August 2008, processing medical claims and meeting accuracy and productivity targets.

Erica McCowan, CFE received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Administration and Management, with a focus in General Studies, from Tennessee Technological University. Erica completed their undergraduate studies between 2002 and 2007. In November 2016, they obtained the Certified Fraud Examiner certification from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
