Darren Wight

Darren Wight has a diverse work experience in the scientific and data science fields. Darren is currently working as a Bioinformatics Scientist and Project Manager at Quantgene since January 2021. Prior to that, they worked as a Data Scientist at VISSEIRO Digital Healthcare from March 2020 to January 2021. Darren also served as a Research Scientist at Freie Universität Berlin from February 2015 to January 2020. Darren participated in a project-oriented data science program called Science to Data Science as an S2DS Fellow in August and September 2019. Darren worked on a natural language processing project with Twitter data for a large international pharmaceutical company. Before that, they worked as a Research Scientist at NIMR from July 2013 to July 2014. Darren started their career as a Research Assistant at The University of Edinburgh from July 2007 to May 2009.

Darren Wight holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular Biology, which they obtained from UCL between 2009 and 2013. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Neuroscience at The University of Edinburgh from 2003 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Darren also obtained a certification in S2DS London 2019 from PIVIGO LIMITED in September 2019.
