Robert MacDougall has over 12 years of professional experience in medical physics. From 2008 to 2010, they served as a Medical Physics Resident at Henry Ford Health System. From 2010 to 2013, they worked as a Medical Physicist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. From 2013 to 2019, they held various roles at Boston Children's Hospital, including Director, Diagnostic and Nuclear Medical Physics Residency Program, X-ray Safety Officer, Manager, Diagnostic Imaging Physics, Clinical Medical Physicist, and Associate Director, Diagnostic and Nuclear Medical Physics Residency Program. During this time, they also acted as Co-Founder of Coordinate Medical Systems, Inc. In 2020, they were Leader, Medical Affairs - CT at Canon Medical Systems USA, Inc. and Co-Founder of Quantivly. In 2021, they assumed the role of Instructor at Harvard Medical School.

Robert MacDougall has a diverse educational background. Robert obtained a B.Sc. in Physics (Honours) and Mathematics and Statistics from Acadia University in 2005. Robert then went on to earn a Master of Science in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto in 2008. In 2014, they began their PhD in Biomedical Engineering and BioTechnology at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, which they are still pursuing. In 2016, they completed the CRAASH course (Commercialization Readiness Assessment and Accelerator for Solutions in Healthcare) at CIMIT (Consortia for Improving Medicine with Innovation and Technology). In addition, they hold certifications from the American Board of Imaging Informatics as a Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) and from The American Board of Radiology in both Diagnostic Medical Physics and Nuclear Medical Physics.
