Utsav D. Dave, PhD

Photonics Scientist at Quantum-Si

Utsav D. Dave, PhD, has a diverse work experience that spans different scientific fields and industries. Starting in 2008, they interned at the Indian Institute of Science, where they focused on Quantum Computation and Information Processing. During this internship, they built a dedicated Matlab code base for simulating the adiabatic algorithm.

In 2009, Utsav interned at Leiden University, gaining further research experience. Utsav D. then worked as an intern at Taylor Hobson in 2011.

In 2012, Utsav joined Ghent University as a PhD student, where they conducted research to develop scalable approaches for solving the shortcomings of possible nonlinear optical functionalities in foundry Si photonic platforms. Their work involved investigating hydrogenated amorphous silicon and heterogeneously integrated III-V-on-silicon platforms. Utsav D. successfully demonstrated supercontinuum generation in the vitally important mid-infrared wavelength regime using the foundry-fabricated amorphous silicon platform and developed a III-V-on-silicon platform using InGaP. Their research addressed the problem of nonlinear losses in the conventional crystalline silicon platform.

From 2017 to 2022, Utsav worked as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University, further advancing their research in the field.

In 2022, Utsav joined Quantum-Si as a Photonics Scientist, where they currently work.

Utsav D. Dave, PhD, has a strong education background in the field of Photonics (Optics/Applied Physics). Utsav D. completed their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Engineering Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, where they studied from 2006 to 2010.

After completing their undergraduate degree, Utsav pursued their Master of Science (M.S.) in Photonics (Optics/Applied Physics) from different institutions. In 2010, they attended the University of St Andrews for their initial year of Master's studies. The following year, they transferred to Heriot-Watt University for a brief period to continue their Master's program. In 2011, they finally obtained their Master's degree from the University of Gent, Belgium.

Utsav's educational journey continued as they pursued further academic achievements. In 2012, they obtained their PhD from Ghent University, completing their doctoral studies in a timely manner.

These educational experiences and accomplishments have provided Utsav D. Dave, PhD, with extensive knowledge and expertise in the field of Photonics (Optics/Applied Physics).
