Izabela Karbassi

Izabela Karbassi, PhD FACMG, is a seasoned expert in genetics and variant science, currently serving as Senior Director of Science at Quest Diagnostics since October 2016, where responsible for leading the Variant Science team. Previously, roles at Quest Diagnostics included Director of Science and Associate Director of the Athena Insight Variant Science Group at Athena Diagnostics, establishing a deep professional background in genetic variant pathogenicity assessment. Izabela's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Biomedical Proteomics from Eastern Virginia Medical School, an M.S. in Microbiology from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Boston University. Additionally, Izabela completed a Clinical Molecular Genetics Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and has held various research associate positions throughout an extensive career in the field.
